The summer garden is buzzing with life, and one of the most anticipated guests is the pied flycatcher (Ficedula hypoleuca) that has taken up residence in one of my nest boxes. During the nesting season, birds must be given absolute peace. However, as a nature photographer, I still wanted to capture this stunning male from a close-up perspective—without jeopardising or disrupting its important daily routines.
The solution was a trusted piece of gear in my backyard setup: the Hähnel Captur Module Pro remote shutter release.
The Technique Behind the Shot
Approaching a nest with a camera demands caution and precise timing. Once the bird flew off, I quickly set up my tripod at an appropriate distance from the entrance hole.
